It is very possible that this structure was built on an ancient temple. To the east of the church there is a monumental building. Being the only Islamic building of this ancient city, the entrance door is decorated with red zigzag motifs belonging to Seljuk era. This ruin must belong to a mansion. The grave structures in the metropolis of the city are the mausoleums with cradle vault and they reveal the burying traditions of the Clician region. Some of the water arches of the city have survived to the present days. Roman Emperor died in this city whilest returning from his orient campaign and his ashes were taken to Rome.
